Somexc was launched by two friends who found the productivity-oriented hustle culture of the 21st century to be pretentious and unnecessary.  We were exhausted from seeing bosses and peers equating long hours in the office to success and countless companies promoting performance and activity.  Nothing was being said about rest and recovery.

We saw that apparel was getting more “techy” to bring “comfort” while you move or remain active.  Shoes were getting faster and faster, in appearance and function, so people can be quicker.  Everything was, and still is, all about making you efficient so you can produce more.  No one was talking about the repercussions and consequences of constantly focusing on performance. You can’t produce forever.

Enter Somexc, our rebellious response to the rise-and-grind deception promoted by those who benefit the most from our efforts. 

We started in footwear with the goal of creating a shoe that comfortably contributes to recovery in all moments, whether it’s while hustling or relaxing.  We’ll see where this journey takes us in the years to come.
